About Rafter 9 Ranch
Four generations of ranching on the Carson River — Fallon, Nevada
Our Story
Rafter 9 Ranch was re-established in 2020 as a working cattle operation in Churchill County, Nevada. What started as a commercial cow-calf operation has grown into a focused seedstock program — raising and selling registered Black Angus bulls and females that perform in Great Basin conditions.
We irrigate from the Carson River, put up our own hay, and calve out our entire cow herd each spring. Everything we sell — whether it’s a bull, a heifer, or a box of beef — was raised right here.

The Great Basin Bull Sale
GBBS — The Premier Intermountain Bull Sale
We’ve been consigning bulls to the Great Basin Bull Sale since its early years. GBBS draws commercial producers from Nevada, Idaho, Utah, and California — the toughest buyers in the West.
Our 2023–2026 string: 19 bulls across 4 sales. 2026 pen leader (LOT 109) posted 4.78 lb/day ADG, and LOT 112 ranked #4 of 135 bulls on test.
