Breeding Philosophy
Females are the foundation of any herd. Every year we assess our heifers to determine which will be good replacement cows. Over the last several years we have slowly, but consistently improved our females. We set our rafter over the following 9 traits when selecting females:
- Proven cow family (fertility, longevity, milk)
- Phenotype
- Legs & Feet
- Easy Fleshing
- Perfect udder
- Superior performance
- Exceptional carcass traits
- Docility
- Genetic Defect Free
- We A.I. our females to outcross sires that are industry leaders for performance and quality
- We invest heavily in our embryo program to take advantage of female donors who can broaden the base of our genetics for sale and for replacement
- We select young herd sires that have the potential to become industry leaders
- The bulls we produce will help our customers achieve higher quality replacement heifers and superior feeder cattle

Top Gun was one of the highest selling bulls at the 2022 Kerbs Ranch bull sale.
His first crop of calves for our ranch was in the Spring of 2023. He acts as our cover bull. He has the shape and size we look for and is a calving ease bull. Each of his calves in 2023 were sub 80 lbs. Additionally, he puts the pounds on our calves. He has a long of length and depth.
